The Mario movie trailer is cursed.

The little trailer didn’t disappoint. Chris Pratt’s voice as Mario was delightfully strange. Keegan-Michael Key is already great as Toad, chastising Mario for mistaking him for a mushroom. Attitude-filled toad? Yes!

The trailer opens with Bowser stealing our stars like it’s “Mario Party.” Bowser orders the Koopa Troopas to open the gates of a frosty castle. Some penguins throw snowballs at him to defend their territory, but they miss.

Exactly. Mario emerges through a warp conduit into a mushroom-filled fantasy kingdom alone. We adore that Chris Pratt’s Mario resembles Andy Dwyer more than Star-Lord.

The Mario movie trailer is cursed.

Pratt claimed he’s always wanted to play Mario. He spent hours playing the original Mario arcade game at his laundromat.

We missed Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. Maybe in trailer 2?

The trailer was short yet good. We finally heard Chris Pratt’s voice on Mario. Key has already murdered it as a toad, saying he mistook Mario for a mushroom. Toad with attitude?

The clip opens with Bowser stealing the star as if playing “Mario Party.” The Koopa Troopas, a little army, follow Bowser to his ice castle and demand entry. Some penguins throw snowballs at him to defend their territory, but they miss.

Black looks committed to his role as Mario’s enemy.

“How long did it take me to learn to breathe fire?” Pre-recorded video played with the trailer without Black. “Kiss’ Gene Simmons taught me!”

Greg Kumparak: “Bowser is scary!” Chris Pratt plays Mario.

Exactly. Mario falls through a warp tunnel into a mushroom-filled fantasy kingdom alone. We adore that Chris Pratt’s Mario resembles Andy Dwyer more than Star-Lord.
